Dr. Hitesh Shah M.D. FAAP
Dr Hitesh Shah founded Southwest Pediatrics in 1996 to create a Pediatric practice that was efficient, courteous, honest and accessible to pediatric patients in Kern County.
Dr. Shah was born in Nairobi, Kenya but went to school including Medical school in India. He started his first year Pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. and finished his two additional years at Maimonedes Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr Hitesh Shah joined Kern Medical Center in 1990 as an Associate in Pediatrics teaching residents. He continued till June 2002. Dr. Shah was appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at UCLA's School of medicine. He has been a speaker for several pharmaceutical companies and gives continuing medical education lectures at hospitals in the county. Dr. Hitesh Shah was elected Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital for years 2005 - 2006 and remains active on Hospital Medical Education Committee.
Personal.
Dr. Shah is married to Alka who is the office manager for Southwest Pediatrics. They live in Seven Oaks development in Southwest and their three children attend Warren Jr. High and Stockdale High School. Dr. Shah enjoys watching Lakers and plays golf occasionally on weekends with his friends and son.

Dr. Charity Santiago M.D. FAAP
Dr. Charity O. Santiago is an associate doctor of South West Pediatrics. She has been a primary care physician since 2001. Born and raised in the Philippines, she attended Fatima College of Medicine where she received her medical training and earned her pediatric training at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, New York.
Dr. Santiago is board certified by the American Academy Board of Pediatrics and a fellow member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is licensed to practice in the state of California.
She has been with Dr. Hitesh Shah since 2003 and found the practice vibrant, well respected and extremely fulfilling.
Dr. Santiago is cheerful, energetic, and compassionate. She is well liked by her patients, including parents and grandparents. In her free time, she likes to shop and be around her family, if time permits.

Dr. Allyson Self M.D. FAAP
Dr. Allyson Self is the newest addition to Southwest Pediatrics. Although she spent most of her life in New Jersey, she is originally from San Diego, CA, and happy to be back in her home state. She received her medical education from New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ, followed by completion of a pediatrics residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. She had the honor of staying at Robert Wood Johnson for an additional year as Chief Resident.
Dr. Self is enthusiastic about working at Southwest Pediatrics under the mentorship of Dr. Shah and Dr. Santiago. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, going to the movies, and spending time with her family.
